Guitars 4 Vets

WHO WE ARE
Guitars for Vets (G4V) is a national 501(c) (3) nonprofit organization that operates more than 300 locations nationwide. Since 2007, we have refined a guitar lesson program that provides Veterans living with the challenges of PTSD and other injuries a unique alternative to healing. Our program features 1000 volunteers who deliver the mission at Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) facilities, community-based medical centers, Vet Centers, and Veterans Service Organizations.

WHAT WE DO
G4V puts the healing power of music in the hands of heroes by restoring feelings of joy and purpose that Veterans can lose after returning to civilian life. The teamwork and camaraderie assist Vets as they reintegrate into their communities.

THE RESULTS
To date, G4V has served nearly 17,000
Veterans. Over the years, we have observed the many ways that our program is enriching the lives of Vets suffering with mental, physical, and emotional distress. Graduates of our curriculum have reported better social interactions, a substitution of music for substance abuse, and greater feelings of personal independence.

Every Thursday at The Music Village:
7pm – Intermediate lesson
7:45pm – Introductory lesson
And at 8:30pm – open social dance

Monday Night Contra Dance
with Kevin Cawley

Think of it as half-a-dance -- a weekly dance, half as long as our monthly contra dances, with recorded music rather than live.
Before going ahead with it, we would need at least eight people to sign up for a six-week session ($25). More people could join us, but we would have to cancel if we can't get at least eight.
